Meet Katie Drake
Hi, I’m Katie! I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, relationship and communication challenges, trauma, and the everyday stresses that can make life feel overwhelming. I especially enjoy helping clients better understand themselves and the relationships that shape their lives, strengthen their connections with others, and recognize patterns that may be keeping them from feeling connected or moving forward.
My practice is grounded in relational therapy, which means I see you as a whole person while also recognizing the important role relationships play in how we experience the world. Together, we may explore relationship dynamics, communication patterns, and past experiences that could be influencing your life today. I work to create a warm, welcoming space where clients feel safe from judgment or pressure and where therapy becomes a supportive place to explore challenges and practice new ways of relating to ourselves and the people who matter most to us.
My approach is collaborative, intentional, and practical. I incorporate communication strategies from the Gottman Method to help couples, families, and individuals communicate more effectively and feel heard and understood in their most important relationships. I also draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients manage anxiety, depression, difficult emotions, and everyday stress. For clients who have experienced trauma, I provide space to unpack those experiences, understand how they may be showing up in the present, and begin creating healthier patterns and stronger support systems.
I am intentional about helping clients identify what meaningful change looks like for them and creating goals that allow us to recognize and track progress along the way. That might mean experiencing less anxiety or depression, developing greater self-esteem and confidence, improving communication, strengthening a relationship, changing long-standing patterns, or simply feeling better equipped to navigate everyday life.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Arts in Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling and Therapy from The College of New Jersey. I am a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT).
Above all, I hope clients leave therapy feeling that our work together has made a meaningful difference — whether that means feeling more confident in themselves, more connected in their relationships, or better equipped to navigate whatever comes next.
When I’m not in the therapy room… I’m passionate about music and sports, so you might find me at a concert or a game. I love spending time with my family and my three cats, and I’m a big believer in incorporating a little whimsy and magic into everyday life — even if that just means finding a way to make the most boring task 10% more fun.
