Meet Katie Drake

Hi, I’m Katie! I work with adolescents who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, difficult emotions, relationship challenges, school stress, family conflict, or simply feeling overwhelmed by everything happening in their lives.

The teenage years can bring a lot of change at once. Academic pressure, friendships, family relationships, social media, identity, and expectations about the future can all become difficult to manage. I enjoy helping adolescents better understand what they are feeling, recognize patterns that may be contributing to stress, and develop healthier ways of coping and communicating.

My practice is grounded in relational therapy. That means I see each teen as a whole person while also recognizing how important relationships with parents, siblings, friends, teachers, and others can be to their emotional well-being. Therapy can provide a space where adolescents feel comfortable talking openly without judgment or pressure.

I work to create a warm and welcoming environment where teens can feel heard, understood, and supported. Rather than simply telling adolescents what they should do, I collaborate with them to understand what is going on and identify changes that feel realistic and meaningful to them.

How I Help Adolescents

My approach is collaborative, practical, and tailored to each client. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help adolescents:

  • Manage anxiety, worry, and overwhelming thoughts

  • Cope with depression and difficult emotions

  • Build confidence and self-esteem

  • Navigate friendships and relationships

  • Improve communication with parents and family members

  • Develop healthier coping skills

  • Manage school and academic stress

  • Recognize and change unhelpful patterns

  • Process difficult or traumatic experiences

Because family relationships can play an important role during adolescence, I can also help teens and parents better understand one another and develop healthier ways of communicating when appropriate.

Therapy With Goals You Can See

I am intentional about helping clients identify what meaningful progress looks like for them. For an adolescent, that might mean feeling less anxious, becoming more confident, handling stressful situations more effectively, communicating more openly, improving relationships, or simply feeling more capable of navigating everyday life.

Together, we create goals that allow us to recognize progress and adjust therapy as your needs change.

About Katie

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Arts in Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling and Therapy from The College of New Jersey. I am a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT).

Above all, I hope adolescents leave therapy feeling that our work together has made a meaningful difference — whether that means feeling more confident in themselves, more connected to the people around them, or better prepared to handle whatever comes next.

When I’m not in the therapy room… I’m passionate about music and sports, so you might find me at a concert or a game. I love spending time with my family and my three cats, and I’m a big believer in adding a little whimsy and fun to everyday life.
